We came, we reminisced, we ate pie. The annual Senior Sendoff was a massive success, as per usual. We had 10 seniors and around 15 undergraduates attend the event. To cap off the seniors’ Dartmouth accomplishments and future goals, we hosted a meet-and-greet/panel event with six Lou’s pies—one for every flavor. Thanks to Kayla Lieuw ’19 and Jonathan Liu ’21 for organizing the pies and setup! And Jean Fang 20  for the photography.
Seniors introduced themselves to underclassmen and gave them valuable advice based on their own experiences. Many exchanged numbers and emails, setting up further conversation and mentor-mentee relationships. After thoroughly enjoying pie and bonding over Dartmouth experiences, the seniors set up for a Q&A panel led by Kevin Hoffer-Hawlik ’19 and Colby Conner ’20.
Highlights from the event included Joe Minichiello ’17 talking about his past five years at Dartmouth, including graduating from the College, working as a Teaching Fellow in biology, applying to medical schools, and choosing to attend Geisel. Valentina Sedlacek ’18 discussed her transition from science to liberal arts research. Abigail Baldwin ’18 talked about both her biomedical engineering thesis and her plans for dental school in the near future. Jerrel Catlett ’18 contrasted the other 18s’ plans for gap years with his plans to go straight through.
A very special thanks to Prof. Witters for all his help in making sure the event ran smoothly. All in all, the event was a major hit, and magnificently celebrated the success of many NSS members who have spent the past four years with us. Congrats to our seniors!
