Using the Collections

Rauner Special Collections Library houses most of Dartmouth's rare books, manuscripts, and the Archives of the College.

Although we are usually open to the public and you would be welcome to visit at any time during open hours, our institutionally mandated COVID-19 protocol means that on-site research is currently limited to Dartmouth faculty, staff, and students cleared to use campus facilities. We hope that we will be open again to the public in the fall but we do not yet know whether this will be possible. If you are planning a research visit from off campus anytime soon, you should email or telephone ahead of time to see if our protocol has changed to allow you access.
