We are pleased to announce that you have access to an important benefit for all Dartmouth College employees who participate in the MetLife Life Insurance plan– Will Preparation1.

Having an up-to-date will is one of the most important things you can do for your family.
Without a will, your assets may be distributed according to state law and not in accordance with your wishes. An up-to-date will establishes important decisions about the distribution of your assets. With Will Preparation, you have access to an important service that helps you ensure your family's future should something happen to you.

What is Will Preparation?
Will Preparation is offered by Hyatt Legal Plans1, a MetLife company, and provides eligible employees and their spouses with face-to-face access to attorneys participating in Hyatt Legal Plans network for preparing or updating a will, living will and power of attorney. When you choose a participating Hyatt Legal Plans attorney, the attorney's fees are fully covered and there are no claim forms to file. You also have the flexibility of using a non-network attorney and being reimbursed for covered services according to a set fee schedule2.

How do I access Will Preparation Services?
It's simple. Employees who participate in MetLife's Life Insurance plan can access the service by:

  • Contacting Hyatt Legal Plans at 1-800-821-6400, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. E.T.
  • A Client Service Representative will:
    • ask you to provide your Company name, Group Number, and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number or Employee ID number
    • In Network ƒ
      • help you locate a participating plan attorney in your area ƒ
      • provide you with a case number to give to the attorney you choose
      • answer any questions you have
    • Out-of-Network ƒ
      • provide you with a case number to give to the attorney you choose ƒ
      • provide you with a fee reimbursement claim form ƒ
      • explain how to complete the form and how to return it to Hyatt Legal Plans with a copy of the attorney's final bill.
  • You contact the attorney's office and make an appointment at a time convenient for you.

ESTATE RESOLUTION

Dartmouth College is proud to offer MetLife Estate Resolution ServicesSM1

We are pleased to announce that along with your Group MetLife Life Insurance, you will receive the benefit of MetLife Estate Resolution Services SM (ERS) at no additional cost when you use a participating plan attorney.

This valuable service gives your beneficiaries the personal support of a Hyatt Legal Plans' attorney in-person or via telephone. By participating in MetLife Estate Resolution ServicesSM , the participating plan attorney's fees are covered for the administrator or executor of your estate for the following probate services*:

  • Face-to-Face and telephone consultations to discuss matters related to probating the insured's estate;
  • Preparation of documents and representation at court proceedings needed to transfer the probate assets from the insured's estate to heirs;
  • The completion of forms and correspondence necessary to transfer non-probate assets such as proceeds from insurance policies, joint bank accounts, stock accounts or a house and;
  • Associated tax filings.

How Do My Beneficiaries or Estate Representatives Access MetLife Estate Resolution ServicesSM?

When your Group MetLife Life Insurance becomes effective, you will automatically become eligible. Beneficiaries receive an explanation of this service with their claim form. All they need to do to access the service is:

  • Report the death of the covered participant to MetLife.
  • Call a toll-free number and provide a Hyatt Legal Plans' Client Service Representative the insured's company name, customer number (if available) and the last 4 digits of the insured's Social Security number.
  • The Client Service Representative will help the beneficiary and/or executor locate a Hyatt plan attorney who will handle all the paperwork. No co-payment is required.
*Definitions: The beneficiary is the person(s) selected by the insured to receive the insurance benefit. If the insured has a Will, the executor of the Will receives the benefits of the Estate Resolution Service. If the insured does not have a Will, the administrator appointed by the court to probate the estate receives the benefits of the Estate Resolution Service. \

In certain states, legal services benefits are provided through insurance coverage underwritten by Metropolitan Property and Casualty Insurance Company and Affiliates, Warwick, Rhode Island. Certain services are not covered by Estate Resolution Services, including matters in which there is a conflict of interest between the executor and any beneficiary or heir and the estate; any disputes with the group policyholder, MetLife and/or any of its affiliates; any disputes involving statutory benefits; will contests or litigation outside probate court; appeals; court costs, filing fees, recording fees, transcripts, witness fees, expenses to a third party, judgments or fines; and frivolous or unethical matters.
