Hello!
My name is Karen, and I am an Administrative Assistant at DCCCC. I have now been at the Center long enough to see children start in one of the Chickadee rooms and have their last day in the Black Bear room! I think my favorite thing about working at DCCCC is seeing how the children change and grow practically overnight. One day a grown-up will be carrying an infant down the hall, pointing at pictures and telling the child who they are, and the next week, the child will be toddling down the hall telling the grown-up who is in each picture.
I have three children of my own: two sons, Chris and Ben, and one daughter, Jess. They are now grown up and are making their way in the world (no small feat). This means that my husband Clive and I are now making our own way in the world as well! Together we enjoy visiting our children in Maine, visiting my side of the family in Massachusetts, visiting Clive’s side of the family in England, going for long walks, cooking, and generally making each day an adventure. We also can’t pass up watching movies such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Rom Coms, and Marvel movies!
I also enjoy growing our own food, going to the ocean, reading (especially Terry Pratchett books), laughing, dancing, singing, writing silly poems, all puns, and finding joy in the little things in life.
