Technical Tidbit
The FacWUG Membership Sign-up procedure uses a combination of software and scripts to "authenticate" site visitors who elect to become FacWUG members. Authentication is relevant in this case because FacWUG membership is limited to Dartmouth faculty. Using this method users must identify themselves using their Blitzmail name and password, and this information is checked against the Dartmouth Name Directory (DND). Authentication could be used to accommodate many scenarios, for example, to restrict access to course materials or for Web-based materials licensed to Dartmouth only. For more on authentication options contact Mark O'Neil. Jump to top arrow
