This 60-minute documentary examines representations of manhood, sexism, and
homophobia in hip-hop culture. It critiques certain disturbing developments in
rap music culture from the point of view of a fan who challenges the art form’s
representations of masculinity. From its roots in the Bronx club scene during
the early 1970's to its international reach as a multi-billion-dollar business,
hip-hop has defined a generation, created a culture and spawned a lifestyle
that incorporates politics, style, art and technology. Learn about this musical
movement’s journey over the past three decades and counting, and find out how
hip-hop itself has grown to encompass far more than just the music.
