The session has just barely begun, but already the dynamic is being established.
It's important to understand how your reactions as a tutor will affect the tutee and the ensuing tutorial session. Jen probably hopes that her enthusiasm for Heart of Darkness will either be shared, or will be contagious. However, Tim is finding the text confusing, and Jen has established herself now as yet another person who understands and loves it. Jen's enthusiasm, far from encouraging Tim, will most likely intimidate and silence him.
Although Tim prefaces his remarks by saying that he hasn't understood the text or discussion, he does mention a few things from class discussion that Jen could have followed up on. Go back and review the video if you need to.
