Faculty Resources
The Writing Program's Online Resources
The Writing Program web site offers two resources that you will find useful as you design and teach your writing courses. Our On-line Student Resources offer textbook-quality writing advice about every aspect of the writing process, from coming up with a topic, to writing a thesis, to structuring an argument, to attending to grammar and style. Our On-line Faculty Resources offer an overview of writing pedagogies and methods, as well as ideas for teaching writing that we've collected from Dartmouth faculty. If you would like to talk about ideas for teaching writing in your course, please contact Karen Gocsik (karen.gocsik@dartmouth.edu), Executive Director of the Writing Program.
The Writing Assistance Program
Writing Assistants are undergraduate tutors who enhance writing instruction in courses across the disciplines by providing students written feedback on their first drafts. If you would like to know more about the program, or if you would like to request a writing assitant, please contact Stephanie Boone (stephanie.boone@dartmouth.edu), Director of Writing Support.
RWIT
Located on the first floor of Berry Library, RWIT - the Student Center for Research, Writing, and Information Technology - staffs undergraduate tutors who are trained to help your students with their writing, research, and technology needs. The RWIT web site also serves as a hub site for students looking for on-line advice about writing, research, and multi-media composition.
The Dartmouth Library System
Dartmouth's librarians are eager to help you design research assignments and supplementary research instruction for your students. If you are interested in discussing the library's substantial educational resources, please contact Susan Fliss (susan.fliss@dartmouth.edu), Director of Library Education and Outreach.
The Dartmouth Center for the Advancement of Learning (DCAL)
DCAL's primary mission is to advance learning by providing services that support effective teaching. DCAL regularly provides opportunitities for faculty to talk about matters relevant to the teaching of writing and research. For more information about DCAL's offerings visit the DCAL web site.
Academic Computing & Jones Media Center
Academic Computing and the Jones Media Center will help you design and implement video assignments in your courses. Please contact Susan Simon (susan.simon@dartmouth.edu) of Academic Computing or Mike Beahan (michael.beahan@dartmouth.edu) of the Jones Media Center if you would like to provide your students with multi-media instruction and support.
