The Woodworking Shop offers a rare opportunity for beginners to learn woodworking from professional craftspeople.
The Woodworking Shop is located downstairs in the Hopkins Center, across from the Paddock Music Library. The shop offers instruction in all aspects of woodworking including furniture design, cabinetmaking, wood turning and carving. You'll find extensive tools and machinery, a finishing room equipped with a spray booth and a studio for matting and framing photos, prints, posters, and drawings. There is also an extensive library with texts and periodicals relating to furniture design and construction as well as general issues in the history of design.

Students of all levels of experience are encouraged to try out the shop. You could build a set of shelves, a desk, or perhaps a cabinet for your video, TV and audio systems. Studio Art students might want to build canvas stretchers; engineering students might need to construct models or prototypes. Woodshop instructors are always available to help you with all aspects of your work. No prior experience is necessary. Beginners are welcome.
