Student Information

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who is eligible to participate?
Any undergraduate (any class year) with science research experience over the past year is invited to create a poster and participate in the symposium. Most students will present research-in-progress, in contrast to a completed project (senior thesis students are the exception).

Why would I want to participate?
Poster presentations are a common feature of many scientific meetings. Preparing a scientific poster will provide you with an opportunity to communicate your research in this format and add to your skill set, particularly if you intend to continue on in the sciences. Be sure to add this experience to your resume.

How do I participate?
Undergraduate researchers need to register with their poster title and other required information which will be printed in a symposium brochure. Registration deadline is May 10.

Can I participate if I am a senior doing research but not working on a senior honors thesis?
Yes, you are encouraged to participate whether you are part of an organized program or arranged your own research experience.

Can I participate if my research experience has been part of a larger laboratory team effort, i.e., not independent work?
Yes, the symposium is an opportunity to showcase the wide variety of research and the breadth of student engagement with science research at Dartmouth.

What if my research has taken place at the Dartmouth Medical School or Thayer School of Engineering?
Yes, you are eligible and encouraged to prepare a poster. Please involve your research advisor in your decision and seek their advice and counsel in preparing your poster.
