Tour The Lab

This is the main room of the laboratory. Each lab member has their own bench and desk at which to work. As you can see, we are still in the "new lab set-up" phase of things, with only minimal clutter. Dr. Whitfield's office is off of the main lab, to the right.

This is the part of the lab where we store all of our dry chemicals and reagents. Also shown is various equipment: gel electrophoresis boxs, pH meter, and balances are on the benchtop. The hybridization oven is seen at right.

This is where the other personnel do their experiments. Other general equipment is also stored here. Gavin does most of his work here, with his bench at right.

This is the tissue culture room. All work that requires an aseptic environment is done here. The room is equipped with two biological safety cabinets ("clean benches") and various storage equipment. Certain cultures/samples are stored in liquid nitrogen, freezers of -20C and -80C, and other thermo-controlled units.

Here is Ausra doing work in our lab's hood. We are equipped to do various cell culture work including grinding and fixing cells. This is a BSL 2 (biohazard) environment because of the work preformed to unfixed human tissue samples.

This is Gavin writing down protocols for the work he is involved with.

Here is Dr. Whitfield performing lab work.
