On behalf of the 1997 Martinus Nijhoff International Western European Specialist Section Grant jury, congratulations to Sem C. Sutter, Bibliographer for Modern Literatures at the University of Chicago Library.

The award jury recently met in Washington DC, and selected Sem's proposal concerning "Books in German-Occupied Europe: The Rosenberg Files" as the recipient of this year's Nijhoff award. Sem will spend two weeks in Paris, Frankfurt, and Koblenz in the summer of 1997. Best wishes to Sem as he conducts his research.

Many thanks to Martinus Nijhoff International for once again making this generous opportunity available to students of West Europe.

Mike Olson, Chair
