This directory of 250 subscription agents in 64 countries has earned its place as a standard reference tool for serials and acquisitions librarians. The sixth edition comes eight years after the fifth and is substantially larger than its predecessors. Wilkas was also co-editor of the fifth edition with Wayne R. Perry.

In addition to directory information, the questionnaire which provides the framework for each entry asks for such information as types of materials handled (monographic as well as serial), possible charges for various levels of service, availability of computerized services, and types of reporting services. Thus the librarian has a fair amount of information for comparing agents before actually contacting potential agents. There are also a geographical index, which lists countries covered, and a short subject index.

The entries refer to each question by number only, so that the user has to consult the questionnaire in the front of the book. More imaginative typesetting would also be expected in a volume with this price. However, these considerations do not detract substantially from the value of the data.

The Western European countries from which agents are reported omit Greece, Ireland, and Portugal.
