Fieldstock 2009, now in its fourth year, includes four days of competitive events culminating with the Human Chariot Races. A tradition revived from Green Key Weekends in the mid-60s through the mid-80s, the races are part of an "Olympic"-style competition on the Green. Featuring creative costume and chariot design, the races will be followed by closing ceremonies on Collis porch.
"This new tradition has become a central part of the transformative experience of summer at Dartmouth," says Brian Dye, assistant director of Collis Center for Student Involvement. "The event brings students together for fun team competitions. It's an old tradition returning to campus through Fieldstock." (photo by Joseph Mehling ’69)
