Committed: "I just love nursing, and I don't think I could ever retire," says Hill, who in 28 years has worked in everything from emergency medicine to occupational health to Veterans Affairs medical centers. He cites counseling as one of the best parts of his job at Dartmouth, calling it "challenging, interesting, and important," adding, "I'm also a parent and not afraid to give advice."

Prepared: Hill belongs to a Disaster Medical Assistance Team based in Massachusetts. With other members of his unit, he recently completed pandemic flu training in Alabama. "We set up a field hospital," explains Hill. "The scene was 70 people in an aircraft from a fictional country. Most couldn't speak English. We had to figure out what to do." Hill plans to share what he learned about disaster response with his colleagues at Dick's House.

License to fly: This summer, Hill will head to Idaho for some hang gliding, a passion of his since 1995. "It's life-altering," he says. "I hope I never get scared enough to quit."
