Dartmouth Life Sciences Symposium
in Honor of Elmer Pfefferkorn

The event honors Elmer Pfefferkorn, legendary emeritus professor of microbiology and immunology at Dartmouth. Keynote speaker J. Michael Bishop, recipient of the 1989 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, will recognize Pfefferkorn's contributions to teaching and science, along with alumni and faculty members. Bishop, Pfefferkorn's former student, writes in his Nobel autobiography: "I found animal virology, in the form of an elective course taken when I returned to my third year of medical school [at Harvard], and in the person of Elmer Pfefferkorn ... My work with Elmer was sheer joy."
