Audio-Visual Specialist, Department of Film and Media Studies
On the job: Ciardelli assists students with using camera and editing equipment for production classes. "My favorite part is that I have to keep learning," he says. "In any term, we have 13 filmmakers with 13 different projects, which gives me an opportunity to help solve creative problems."
New technology, old technology: "I'm really excited about our new Avid server," he says, which allows students to access their projects from any editing station. But Ciardelli also appreciates his department's "commitment to shooting on film, which I think is great. Not many schools still offer that."
Real-world experience: Before coming to Dartmouth in 2001, Peter worked on feature films in Los Angeles. "Having worked in an editing room, I have an idea of how a film is made, the process of it,"which he tries to impart to students. He also offers career advice, telling students that, "As far as finding work, there's no such thing as a job that's too small. The important thing is to get in there and let people see you working and your enthusiasm."
