Stuart Reid '08 and Daniel Byman will debate the effect of leaders on foreign policy. Reid is assistant editor at Foreign Affairs and winner of the 2008 Chase Peace Prize for his undergraduate thesis. Byman directs Georgetown University's Center for Peace and Security Studies and is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. Reid says, "This is an opportunity to discuss a topic-one that I spent most of my senior year researching-with an expert who has also studied the question. I can think of few institutions where such a debate is possible."
The Chase Senior Thesis Prize, administered by the Dickey Center, recognizes the best senior thesis relating to the understanding of war, conflict resolution, and the promotion of world peace.
