Fractured Illumination

In this installation, Assistant Professor of Studio Art Soo Sunny Park combines conventional building materials, such as drywall and 2x4 boards, with paper egg cartons and industrial aluminum honeycomb panels to create spaces for viewers to enter. Shadow, light, and refracted patterns play with visitors' perceptions as they walk through the sculpture.  "I explore properties of geometry," says Park, "and concepts of space, time, and abstract mathematics, using structure, pattern, and the dialogue between logical and lyrical shape."
