Galway Kinnell

Montgomery Fellow Galway Kinnell will read from his work at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, in Moore Auditorium in Filene Hall. "It's a mesmerizing experience to hear him," says Cleopatra Mathis, the Frederick Sessions Beebe '35 Professor in the Art of Writing. "The extraordinary music of his language and his lines seems to come from deep inside him, as if they were inevitable."

Kinnell has been honored as a MacArthur Fellow and as a winner of a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award. He is the author of more than a dozen volumes of poetry, most recently Strong Is Your Hold (Houghton Mifflin, 2006).
