Cheryl Josler
Thirteen years ago, Cheryl Josler was a receptionist for the what was then called the Employment Office, and her responsibilities included creating and maintaining the online job listings.
Since then, in a steady progression, she’s held roles as a project assistant, project implementation leader, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) project manager, and manager of HRIS. On June 1, 2007, Josler was promoted to the new position of director of Human Resources Information and Payroll Shared Services, with a dual reporting relationship to Human Resources and to the Controller’s Office.
Through courses offered by the Society for Human Resource Management, Josler has achieved certification as a Professional in Human Resources, and she has written and presented extensively on the subject of project management methodology.
“I’m a ‘take the ball and run with it’ kind of person,” she says. “I’ve found both my department and Dartmouth at large to be very supportive of those who take initiative and strive for positive change.”

Shirley St. Peter
Shirley St. Peter has excelled in just about every task imaginable during her 35 years working at the Hanover Inn’s restaurants. She cleared tables back when Zins Winebistro was a coffee shop, she worked as a waitress and hostess, and she oversaw staff behind the scenes in the kitchens. Promoted consistently along the way, St. Peter became restaurant operations supervisor a year ago. The position oversees all staff in both Zins and the Daniel Webster Room.
“Shirley was the most qualified candidate because of her considerable experience, her demonstrated leadership skills, and her proven work ethic,” says Richard Dumez, restaurant and beverage operations manager for the Inn.
St. Peter credits some of her success to being a hands-on supervisor. “I spend a lot of time walking through the restaurants,” she says. “I see what areas need help, and that’s where I go. If we’re short on waitresses, I’ll fill in. I think my experience helps me be fair, because I know where people are coming from.”
St. Peter says that she has enjoyed her time at the inn. “There’s great staff, and great management. I look forward to many more years.”
