The 2007 academic year will open on Tuesday, Sept. 25, with Convocation and the Community Cookout hosted by President James Wright. N. Bruce Duthu '80, the Gordon Russell Visiting Professor in Dartmouth's Native American Studies Program  and a professor of law at Vermont Law School, will deliver the Convocation address. New this year, the cookout that serves more than 3,500 people will produce absolutely no trash. By converting to a waste-free event, Dartmouth will save approximately 711 pounds of trash and produce compost for the College's organic farm and athletic fields.
