Dartmouth to Host Democratic Presidential Candidates Debate

On Sept. 26, 2007, Dartmouth College will once again be at the center of the national political stage when the College hosts and co-sponsors a Democratic Presidential Candidates Debate as the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination heats up. The evening event will be broadcast and streamed online by MSNBC and New England Cable News Network (NECN), at a time to be determined. The 90-minute debate will be moderated by Tim Russert, NBC's Washington Bureau Chief and host of Meet the Press. More information is available at the Debates at Dartmouth Web site, including information about how to register for the ticket lottery. Dartmouth's co-sponsors for the debate are NBC-TV, NECN, the Democratic National Committee, and the New Hampshire Democratic Party.

At present, there are no firm plans for a Republican candidates debate. The College had hoped to host such a debate on Sept. 27, but that currently appears unlikely. However, efforts to establish such a debate at Dartmouth are ongoing.
