The Dartmouth College Directory is moving away from its traditional print format and toward a print-on-demand document, marking a change in the presentation of the directory with a greater emphasis on electronic publication.
The directory was last printed in 2003, but changing priorities and resource allocations have resulted in the move toward a print-on-demand model based on the current online directory and elimination of the printed book.
The online version of the directory can be found on the Dartmouth home page, in the upper-right hand corner of the page. The directory contains work-related information about employees: name, title, department, phone number, and campus and e-mail addresses. Launched in fall 2005, the online version of the directory presents the opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to update their Dartmouth-related information at any time, rather than annually. Modifications to the current online directory, including specifications for the new print-on-demand feature, are now being investigated through a project involving the Office of Public Affairs, Human Resources, and Administrative Computing.
Changes in directory listings can be made by going to the directory page. Once on the directory page, click on "Log in to maintain your directory listing" to view and edit information. In addition to revising work information, users will also have the option of opting out of the directory entirely.
Watch future issues of Vox for updates on the directory project.
