New Web Authorization System Increases Access

For the past nine months, Peter Kiewit Computing Services has been working on a new system to authenticate users to Web-based applications. Starting on October 14 and continuing through the calendar year, the new service, WebAuth, will begin to replace SideCar as the standard authentication method for applications accessed through Web browsers.

The new system's main benefit is the addition of support for any operating system that uses a standard browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera). WebAuth will allow users of Linux and Intel-based Macintosh computers-systems not supported by SideCar-to authenticate to applications. Users will not need additional software to use WebAuth.
