DCAL Offers Active Learning Institute

The Dartmouth Center for the Advancement of Learning (DCAL) and Academic Computing will offer a two-day active learning institute August 21 and 22. With the help of Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences Chris Jernstedt, an expert on the science of learning, the institute will help a small group of faculty develop purposeful applications of information technology to create effective learning environments.

Participants will receive a $500 stipend for full participation. Anyone holding a faculty teaching appointment at Dartmouth (arts and sciences, Thayer, Tuck, and Dartmouth Medical School) is eligible. To apply, submit the following information to DCAL (HB 6247 or via email):

  • A brief statement (800 words or less) of the specific teaching challenges you wish to address. Please identify the Dartmouth course you regularly teach or plan to teach in which these challenges arise and for which you plan to adopt new tools and techniques.
  • Your current CV, including name, address, phone number and e-mail address.
