25 Years for the Prouty

The 25th Annual Prouty Century Bike Ride and Challenge Walk will be held July 8, 2006. The Prouty celebrates and supports the courage of cancer patients and survivors everywhere and raises money for cancer research at Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Last year, the Prouty raised a record-breaking $769,000. This year the goal is $1 million. More than $3.3 million have been raised during the Prouty's 24 years, money that funds world-class research, state-of-the-art equipment, critical education programs, and innovative clinical trials that benefit cancer patients all over the world. It also funds patient services that support cancer patients and their families.

There are many ways to participate in the Prouty: by cycling up the scenic Connecticut River Valley (25, 50, or 100 miles), or walking on trails or through Hanover (5, 10, 15, or 20K). This year, more than 2,000 people are expected to participate. The event includes a complimentary "Carbo-Loading" dinner catered by Lui Lui the evening of July 7 and a Prouty day with great food, live music, prizes, children's activities, and more.

For more information and to preregister, visit the Prouty Web site or contact Laura Bonacore at 653-3629.
