Dartmouth faculty and staff will again participate in the National Bike-Walk to Work Day Spring Commuter Challenge on Friday, May 18. This annual event, coordinated by Upper Valley Rideshare and Upper Valley Trails Alliance, raises awareness of commuting alternatives that benefit the environment while promoting fitness and health. Dartmouth is one of dozens of employers and municipalities in the Upper Valley sponsoring the event.

By walking, biking, carpooling, or taking the bus to work, you can save on the price of gas, reduce pollution, and avoid parking headaches. Throughout the morning, Bike/Walk to Work Day breakfasts will be held in Hanover, Lebanon, and Claremont, N.H., and Hartford, Vt. Participants are invited to stop by, track their mileage, enter prize drawings, and enjoy a light meal with other bikers and walkers. Breakfast locations and times are available at the Web site.

For more details, contact Upper Valley Rideshare at (802) 295-1824, extension 208, or Upper Valley Trails Alliance at (802) 649-9075.
