Holocaust Remembrance Day Observance April 14

Members of the community are invited to attend an observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day on April 14 at 8 p.m. in Dartmouth 105. Dartmouth College Hillel will host the Yom Hashoah Memorial Program, which will feature a screening of the documentary film Remembering the Jews of Druzhkapol. The film describes the journey 12 Dartmouth students took to learn the history of the Jewish community of Druzhkapol, Ukraine, to restore its abandoned and neglected Jewish cemetery, and to dedicate a memorial on the site where all 900 of its Jewish inhabitants were murdered on Sept. 19, 1942.

Zoe Dmitrovsky '09, Alex Consky '07, Avnish Gungadurdoss '09, Lense Gebre-Mariam '09, and Jennifer Auerbach Rodriguez '09—some of the students who participated in the trip—will reflect on their experiences in a panel discussion moderated by Rabbi Edward F. Boraz. A memorial candle-lighting service will conclude the evening.
