Colin Calloway, professor of history and Samson Occom Professor of Native American Studies, received the
annual book award from the Society of Colonial Wars in the State of New York
for his book, The Scratch of a Pen: 1763 and the Transformation of North
America. The Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving
the history of the establishment of the colonies of America. Publisher's Weekly
said The Scratch of a Pen was "A spellbinding tale of a year in
American history" in a review on the Oxford University Press Web site.
Calloway will be honored by the society during an event in New York City this
spring.
