Works of art honoring significant figures at Dartmouth were unveiled on campus in 2006. A bronze bust and three oil-on-canvas portraits pay tribute to a librarian, a special assistant to four presidents, a former U.S. surgeon general, and a former president.

Stephen Spielberg
Dean of Dartmouth Medical School admires the portrait of C. Everett Koop '37 during Koop's 90th birthday party, held Nov. 2 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. By American artist Mark Heid, the portrait will hang in the C. Everett Koop Medical Science Complex, a new Dartmouth Medical School research facility scheduled for completion in 2009. The portrait was commissioned by Dartmouth Medical School.
David T. McLaughlin
This bust of David T. McLaughlin, president of Dartmouth from 1981 to 1987, was unveiled on Sept. 19 following the dedication of the McLaughin Residential Cluster. A gift of the Class of 1954, it was created by American artist George Lundeed and is located in Goldstein Hall in the front of Occom Commons.
Margaret Otto
This portrait of the late Margaret Otto, 16th librarian of the College, was commissioned by the Board of Trustees and unveiled on Aug. 24 at the entrance to Baker Library's Tower Room. Otto passed away on Dec. 10, 2006. The portrait is by American artist Ronald Norman Sherr.
Lucretia Martin
Lucretia Martin was special assistant to Dartmouth Presidents John G. Kemeny, David T. McLaughlin, James O. Freedman, and James Wright, and she later served as director of development. Her portrait, commissioned by the Board of Trustees and painted by American artist Everett Raymond Kinstler, was unveiled in Kemeny Hall following the building's dedication on Nov. 3.
