New Bus Route Broadens Commuting Options

The Parking Office, a department of the Facilities Operations and Management division (FO&M), is pleased to announce expanded commuter bus service on the River Route. This route, operated by Stagecoach Transportation Services of Randolph, Vt., runs between Wells River, Vt., and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), with stops that include Bradford, Vt., Thetford, Vt., and Hanover.

Dartmouth and DHMC employees can ride Stagecoach buses for a reduced rate, and College employees are currently reimbursed at cost when presenting receipts to the Parking Office. The new service is supported by a grant from the Vermont Agency of Transportation through the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality program, which is administered by the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration.

"Thanks to matching funds from Dartmouth and DHMC, the grant to Stagecoach provides for an additional morning and evening route," says FO&M Director of Fiscal and Auxiliary Services Bill Barr. "This flexibility will hopefully be attractive for commuters coming to work from the north."

The expanded service on the River Route complements the Parking Office's extensive menu of commuting options. In addition to Stagecoach Transportation Services, Dartmouth and DHMC employees can ride free on Connecticut River Transit and Advance Transit.
