Despite persistent rain, nearly 2,000 people took part in the 24th Annual Prouty Bike Ride & Fitness Walk on July 9. Starting at the Dartmouth Medical School campus, participants biked the 25, 50 or 100 mile routes up the Connecticut River valley or walked 5k or 10k through Hanover. Another 250 volunteers offered their time and talents to support the event.

"We were delighted and amazed that in spite of the inclement weather, more people than ever before came out to support cancer research here," said Susan Debevoise Wright, Honorary Chair of the 2005 Prouty and wife of Dartmouth President James Wright.
Prouty dollars remain local and are used to support research, education, outreach programs and patient services. Prouty funds are also crucial seed money for innovative research that allows young scientists to obtain their first data, enabling them to receive significant research grants. A complete list of funding allocation will soon be available on the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center Web site www.cancerfriends.dartmouth.edu.
Donations will accepted through September via mail (Friends of NCCC, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03766) and online at www.theprouty.org. For more information, contact Michelle.Manning@dartmouth.edu.
