The MLK Celebration Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2007 Social Justice Awards. The awards recognize members of the Dartmouth and Upper Valley communities who have contributed significantly to social justice, peace, civil rights, education, public health, or environmental justice. Those eligible to be nominated for individual awards include Dartmouth, Dartmouth Medical School, Thayer, and Tuck students, arts and sciences graduate students, alumni, faculty, employees, and friends. A separate category honors undergraduate and graduate student groups. The awards honor those who have demonstrated compassion, perseverance, courage, and leadership by engaging in the difficult work of fostering human dignity through their projects, programs, and visions. Award recipients will be selected by the MLK Celebration Committee and will be honored at an awards ceremony planned for late January 2007.
Nominations should include a short biography and any other information that highlights the candidate's or student group's commitment to social justice. Please include the nominee's and nominator's name, phone number, e-mail, and mailing address. Nominations must be postmarked by August 1, 2006, and can be mailed to the MLK Celebration Committee, Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity, McNutt Hall, HB 6018, Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH 03755 or submit a nomination online.
