Projecting Talent

Peter Nigrini '93 (front right), video designer for the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, speaks to Lighting Design 1 students on January 13. A renowned projection designer in theater and dance, Nigrini was on campus for the dance company's performance at the Hopkins Center earlier this month, part of Dartmouth's Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.

The course is taught by Associate Professor of Theater Daniel Kotlowitz (front left), who comments, "Digital projection is the future of theater design, and Peter Nigrini is at its forefront. Meeting a video designer who is a Dartmouth graduate makes the material we cover in the classroom come alive, and makes a life in the arts tangible for the students."

Alice Park '06, a student attending the lecture, notes, "It was great to learn how Nigrini got into video design and how his experiences at Dartmouth shaped his career."  The visit was arranged through the Hopkins Center Outreach and Arts Education Department, which provides Dartmouth and the wider community access to visiting artists.
