Panel on wartime responsibility

On Monday, Oct. 18,  the Dickey Center will hold a panel discussion titled "Citizen Responsibility in Wartime." Stanley Fish, Distinguished Professor of English, Criminal Justice, and Political Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will join Dartmouth's Irene Kacandes, Associate Professor of German, and James Murphy, Associate Professor of Government, in the discussion of the role of academics during times of national strife.

"Some faculty members believe they have a responsibility to make use of their classroom's bully pulpit potential," said Allan Stam, Professor of Government and War and Peace Studies Coordinator, who will moderate the panel. "Others believe that they should stick to what they know best - academic research and writing.  We'll discuss the social responsibilities of academics during wartime." The event will take place at Filene Auditorium, Moore Hall, at 4:30 p.m. For more information, call the Dickey Center at 646-2023.
