Former presidential candidate and Vermont Gov. Howard Dean lectured on July 10 in two undergraduate courses. Pictured here is a government course titled "Children, Families, and Public Policy." Dean's two-day visit also included scheduled office hours and a student dinner discussion on women's issues. As the Rockefeller Center's Class of 1930 Distinguished Visiting Fellow, Dean has been coming periodically to campus since April, interacting with students and faculty members through forums, lectures, meal discussions and office hours. Dean will return to campus on Aug. 5 and 6, and in November after the election. "It's clear that Gov. Dean had a very positive impact on political and civic activity in the Upper Valley, and it was clear during the Democratic presidential primary [last January] that he carried all the local towns bordering the Connecticut River," said Andrew Samwick, Professor of Economics and Director of the Rockefeller Center. "He has national appeal and local impact - that's the kind of person we like to visit us at the Rockefeller Center."
