Recognition for Dartmouth faculty, staff and students

June K. Robinson, Section Chief of Dermatology at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, received the American Cancer Society's St. George Medal at the annual meeting of the Illinois Division of the Society on November 13, 2004. The St. George Medal is awarded to volunteers who have distinguished themselves through their achievements in the fight against cancer. Dr. Robinson has served the Society for the past 16 years and is a past president of the Illinois Division Board. She was instrumental in developing the Definitely a 15 skin cancer prevention campaign, and currently serves as a co-principal investigator on a national skin cancer prevention education program.

Joseph O'Donnell, Chief of Oncology at the Veteran's Affairs (VA) Medical Center in White River Junction, Vt.; Paul Manganiello, Medical Director of DHMC's Office of Women's Health Research and Head of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; and William Boyle, Professor of Pediatrics and Community and Family Medicine at DMS, were inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society at the 2004 Association of American Medical Colleges Annual Meeting on November 6 in Boston, Mass. O'Donnell's area of research is palliative care, medical education and quality of life issues. Manganiello works on tubal sterilization and testosterone therapy to treat fibromyalgia. Boyle is a sub-specialist in long-term and chronic illnesses like cancer, diabetes and cystic fibrosis.
