Order of Omega raises record amount for United Way

Dartmouth's Order Of Omega was recognized at a May 18 awards ceremony for raising more than $7,500 in a United Way campaign directed at and by students. The total represents a significant increase over past years, when student campaigns have typically averaged about $950, according to Bill Hochstin, chair of the College's annual United Way campaign.

"The Order of Omega developed a strategic plan to increase participation and interest, and significantly raised the level of giving. They have already developed a team that is eagerly planning our next campaign," he said.

Dartmouth is the only school in the Ivy League that has a United Way campaign directed at students. Representatives of the Order of Omega and leaders of the campaign who attended the awards ceremony were juniors David Geenberg of Phi Delta Alpha and Nicole Valco of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Katherine Heyman, Kappa Delta Epsilon, and Mary Reynolds, Kappa Kappa Gamma, also juniors, were the campaign's other leaders for 2003-04.  Valco will lead next year's student campaign.
