GE's Jeffrey Immelt to speak at Dartmouth Entrepreneurship Conference

Entrepreneurship discussions led by array of experts

On Saturday, April 24, Jeffrey Immelt '78, Chairman and CEO of General Electric, will deliver the keynote address at Greener Ventures 2004, Dartmouth's annual one-day entrepreneurship conference. President James Wright and Gov. Craig Benson will open the conference, which is free to Dartmouth and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center students, staff members and faculty members.

Greener Ventures 2004 will focus on "Trends and Opportunities." Attendees will learn how leaders in information technology, life sciences, venture capital and academia identify trends and extract the opportunities they present. The conference also includes panel discussions addressing a variety of execution and financing issues for entrepreneurs, including team formation, bootstrapping, exit strategies, and making tough decisions.

"This year's Greener Ventures will help participants recognize and understand relevant trends in business and improve their sense for how to best take advantage of them when they see them," said Gregg Fairbrothers '76, Director of the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network.

Dartmouth and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center faculty members, students and staff members can attend Greener Ventures for free, but online registration is required. Dartmouth alumni and individuals without a Dartmouth affiliation are charged $49 and $99 respectively to attend. Lunch and a cocktail reception are included with registration. More than 35 experts in business and entrepreneurship, many of them Dartmouth graduates, will participate in this year's conference, including

Greener Ventures 2004 will also include a $5,000 business-plan competition for Dartmouth-based startups.
