Along with the conference, "Contested Memories of the Holocaust," Dartmouth professors Marianne Hirsch and Annelise Orleck will teach an undergraduate seminar this term with two professors from Tel Aviv University, Hannah Naveh (Women's and Gender Studies) and Orly Lubin (Comparative Literature). The seminar, called "Gender and Generation: Holocaust Memory in Israel and the United States," will be offered to 12-15 Dartmouth students and 12 Tel Aviv University students. The four professors will teach simultaneously, using e-mail, the World Wide Web and videoconferencing as well as live lectures and discussions at their home institutions, and a visit by  the Tel Aviv professors to Dartmouth. Dartmouth students will work in teams with Tel Aviv students on their assignments. "This seminar is part of a productive and enjoyable collaboration between the Women's and Gender Studies programs at our two universities, on which we hope to keep building," Hirsch said. For information on  the seminar, including readings, a schedule for each meeting and assignments, see the website www.dartmouth.edu/~wgst60.
