Published February 9, 2004; Category: ADMINISTRATION Monthly message includes headlines and links to sitesDartmouth has a new monthly news and information resource for alumni and others: an e-newsletter called Speaking of Dartmouth. Produced by the offices of Alumni Relations and Public Affairs, the newsletter offers news, features, upcoming events around campus and notices about services to alumni. Begun last November, the newsletter gives headlines, each one followed by a link to a website. The December issue, for instance, linked to websites covering Michael Arad '91 winning the World Trade Center memorial design competition, Winter Carnival plans, and how to use the digital library. "New technologies provide new opportunities for Dartmouth to help keep its alumni in touch with activities and developments at the College, and to apprise them of opportunities to stay involved with their alma mater," said Stan Colla, Vice President for Alumni Relations. "We're excited about Speaking of Dartmouth and hope alumni will be as well." "One of our top priorities is to make Dartmouth's alumni and friends aware of the latest news about the work of the students and the faculty in as timely a timely way as possible," said William N. Walker, Vice President for Public Affairs. "This electronic newsletter is a significant addition to our range of communications channels, and we hope it will help keep the College in touch with the many people who care about its continuing progress." Approximately 33,000 alumni already receive Speaking of Dartmouth. To subscribe go to the website, and sign up with a valid e-mail address. The newsletter will come to your email in-box once a month. The publication is edited by Karen Endicott, who for 17 years was an editor for the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine. The editorial board is chaired by Roland Adams, Director of News and Public Information in the Public Affairs Office; and includes Jan Bent, Director of Alumni Information Resources; David Gibson, Director of Communications for the Development Office; Margaret (Peggy) Parsons, Deputy Director of Alumni Relations; and Tamara Steinert, Public Affairs Officer in the Public Affairs Office. |
