- More alumni volunteer
The alumni of Dartmouth have chosen to join the Peace Corps at a significantly higher rate than last year, earning a No. 3 spot in the Peace Corps' annual listing of top-producing small colleges.

- Chronic illness a small classroom liability
Teachers have an overall positive attitude about having children with chronic illnesses in their classrooms, report Dartmouth Medical School researchers in the January issue of The Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.
- Tech center receives funding
On Jan. 15, U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg joined representatives from local, regional and federal economic development agencies, the state of New Hampshire and Dartmouth to support a proposed Dartmouth Regional Technology Center.
Remarks: Secretary of Education
During a Jan. 14 visit to Dartmouth, U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige said, "In my interactions today with faculty and students, I have heard much about Dartmouth's commitment to the Hanover community and the multi-state area..."
- Junior leads coat drive
The South Dakota winter may be less unforgiving this year for the residents of the Pine Ridge Native American Reservation, thanks to the generosity of the Dartmouth community.
