The speaker, Pauline Maier, a history professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, wrote the 1997 book American Scripture: Making the Declaration of Independence. She will explain how the Continental Congress recruited writers to compose critical documents, how Congress drafted and edited the Declaration of Independence, and how the framers of the Constitution worked to make it a distinguished piece of writing.
