Volcanic activity resulted in an island. The island reached the surface from a crater just below sea level. One of the first to see it was Sigurjón Einersson, a pilot. The island washed away and reappeared. The height reached 200 feet. Disappeared, washed away by the sea permanently, between Oct 18 and Oct. 24th. Seismic tremor accompanied the eruption on May 24th.
