Dartmouth College recognizes the A-Level curriculum from the United Kingdom as exceptional preparation of students and grants credit for superior performance on those A-Level examinations which cover fields of study represented by Dartmouth’s academic departments in the arts and sciences, and which are monitored and approved by the Secondary Examination and Assessment Council (SEAC). Credit is determined in strict accordance with the faculty Committee on Instruction standards. One departmental unspecified credit may be granted for each course in which a grade of A has been earned.
Students with an A grade may appeal for additional unspecified credit or specific course credit (which replaces the unspecified credit) from the academic department directly. For courses in which a grade of B has been earned, credit may be granted at the discretion of the department.
All claims for credit for British A-Level work must be made by the end of the fall term of the first year.
Questions about the British A-Level Program should be addressed to the Undergraduate Deans Office.
