Civil Society
Historical and Contemporary Perspectives
Series Editors:

CIVIL SOCIETY is a book series sponsored by the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts University.  Scholars, students, and the public alike are intrigued by the meaning of engaged citizenship and the nature of that complex activity situated between home and family life and the arena of for-profit enterprise and government agency.  These are themes of compelling interest not just in the US but worldwide, as citizen activism and democratization encounter broad political realignment, religious fundamentalism, economic development, environmental change and other forces.  Civil Society seeks to enhance and enliven the discussion through studies that range across time, cultures, and disciplines.
