| Print artists sometimes designed theater interiors to commemorate special events. This print by Utagawa Kunisada celebrates the first performance of the 1858 season at the Morita Theater. The play is Shibaraku, a traditional season opener. At the climactic moment of the third act, the lead actor enters the action with great spectacle from the back of the theater. |
