Bethany Marsh

Bethany Marsh is the AmeriCorps VISTA member for local service. She works for Dartmouth Community Services advising projects and coordinating volunteer activities. Bethany attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado (the most redundantly named place on earth) and graduated in 2003 with a BA in Physics and a minor in French studies. She spent a semester in Avignon, France, and a participated in a SEA semester, half in Woods Hole Massachusetts and half on a sailboat in the Carribean.

Bethany came to Dartmouth fresh out of the Peace Corps, where she spent two years teaching physics to middle school children in Cameroon, West Africa. If she looks a bit familiar, that is because before joining the Peace Corps, she worked at the Dartmouth Bookstore for a year. She has also worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the North Attleboro YMCA in MA, and as a database manager and program assistant for the Pikes Peak Justice & Peace Commission in CO.

Bethany has been committed to service through out her life, and has volunteered in a variety of capacities from mowing lawns for the elderly, building roofs in the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky, to working with teenagers, young children, and adults with special needs at a summer camp in Maine. Right now she is looking for ways to integrate her commitment to service with her professional life. Working at Tucker is a great start, and she hopes it will lead to a lifelong career in service work.

Bethany loves living in the Upper Valley and being able to take the free bus to work, and she is excited to work linking the vibrant community organizations of the region with Dartmouth student volunteers.
