Rabbi  Edward Boraz received his B.S. from Loyola University in 1975, his J.D. from Loyola University in 1978, Rabbinical Ordination from Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion in 1993, and finally his Ph.D. from Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion in 1998. The Rabbi currently serves in the following capacities:
1. Rabbi and Executive Director of Dartmouth Hillel;
2. Officer of the Tucker Foundation;
3. Rabbi of the Upper Valley Jewish Community;
4. Adjunct Assistant Professor in Community and Family Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School.
Most recently, he has served as the Chairperson of the College Committee of Alcohol and Other Drugs from 2000 to 20002.
As Rabbi and Executive Director of Dartmouth Hillel, his primary responsibilities include furthering the mission of Hillel, which is to improve the quality of Jewish life at Dartmouth specifically and working towards the betterment of the Dartmouth College community in general. The essence of his position is pastoral, with an emphasis on exploring with students the moral, ethical, and spiritual problems of contemporary life.
Prior to coming to Dartmouth, he served as the Rabbi for Bnai Tzedek, a congregation in Cincinnati, Ohio, while completing his doctoral studies. He is the author of "Understanding the Talmud: A Modern Reader's Guide for Study (Jason Aronson Press, 1998)."
